Re: New Albertsons Horizon City, TX opening
It is funny to see growth on the Albertsons banner period.

It opened this morning. The news reported that already by 2:30 am there were 150 people camped outside the front door.

Looks like it has Modern, but I would love to see more pics. I kinda figured based on all the previous store openings. I think this is the first Modern store in El Paso, the previous new one that opened in 2021 opened with Colorful Lifestyle, and the others all had Jewel before being remodeled to Colorful Lifestyle.

Didn't the last new store in El Paso get the colorful lifestyle? I guess that interior is retired going forward. Looks so much better.

Re: New Albertsons Horizon City, TX opening
The last new one that opened in 2021 got Colorful Lifestyle. Most stores in El Paso have also received Colorful Lifestyle remodels. I imagine Colorful Lifestyle is being phased out. While I like Colorful Lifestyle more, it's technically older than Modern/Florida, hence why it is getting phased out first. If you think about it, some aspects of Colorful Lifestyle, like the font used in department signage, has been used in Star Market since at least 2010 (going back to the SuperValu days), so Colorful Lifestyle has unfortunately reached the end of it's lifespan.storewanderer wrote: ↑December 23rd, 2024, 10:59 amDidn't the last new store in El Paso get the colorful lifestyle? That being said, I think the Florida decor needs to start being phased out as well. While it doesn't look bad, Albertsons can really do better. Pretty much every new store that has opened within the last few months opened with the Florida decor, with the exception of the Queen Anne Safeway and the Jewel in Diamond that both got Pavilions decor. Some of Albertsons most recent commercials used the Bothell Safeway with the new Upland Albertsons decor, so I'm hopeful that this could be an indicator we will see that decor pop up in more stores too.
At the very least this Albertsons got the NorCal variant of Modern/Florida, and not the cheaper one seen in Vons, etc.

I think all new builds get the nicer variant, and remodels beyond the first few get the cheaper one. Many remodels in NorCal done recently get the cheaper one.brendenmoney wrote: ↑December 24th, 2024, 10:56 pmThe last new one that opened in 2021 got Colorful Lifestyle. I'm not 100% sure the Pavilions Decor should be used going forward either. Particularly on drop ceiling stores. They developed that decor to put on investor presentations for the Albertsons-Rite Aid merger.
